Campaigns and rewards

How to create a product, a campaign and its rewards, which reward kinds are allowed, and the wording a campaign must avoid.

You prepare a campaign in the dashboard under Campaigns. Preparing is free, and nothing is public until it has been reviewed and you open it.

1. Add a product

A campaign backs a product. Add one first with its name (80 characters at most), its public address and an optional tagline (160 characters at most).

2. Create the campaign

FieldRule
Title120 characters at most.
PitchMarkdown, 20,000 characters at most. Say what you will build or ship and what works today.
ModeShip pledge, Build fund or Growth.
Growth goalsGrowth only. One or more of marketing, scale and infrastructure, sales, hiring. Locked once approved.
GoalFrom 100 to 1,000,000, in the currency of your payout account.
End dateBetween one and 90 days from now.
Launch deadlineShip pledge only. After the end date, and within two years of it.
Prototype addressRequired for a Build fund (a working prototype) and for Growth (the live product), optional for a Ship pledge.

In a Ship pledge, nothing is charged before you launch, so choose a launch deadline you can keep. You can extend it once.

3. Add rewards

A reward is a product or a perk that you deliver. Each reward states what is delivered, for how long, the estimated delivery date, the price and an optional quantity limit. A backer can pledge for one reward per campaign.

Reward kinds

KindWhat it is
Prepaid subscriptionMonths of your product, paid in advance. This is the usual choice.
Lifetime dealLifetime access, with a fair-use cap you state.
Founding priceA locked price for early members.
CreditsA quantity of usage credits.
SeatsA number of seats on your product.
Early accessAccess before the public launch.
Roadmap callA call with you about the roadmap.
Founders pageA mention on a page of early backers.

A reward price runs from 1 to 100,000 in the campaign's currency, and a duration from 1 to 1,200 months.

What you can change

  • You can edit or remove a reward until someone pledges for it. After that it never changes, and you add a new reward instead.
  • You can add rewards while the campaign is approved or live.

What a campaign cannot offer

fundmysaas is for rewards only. A campaign, a product or a reward never offers a financial return, a share of the business or a loan. This is refused when you save or submit, not only in the terms.

Never offer, and never use words that offer:

  • equity, shares, stock, shareholders, dividends or options;
  • a share of revenue or profit;
  • loans, interest or a rate of interest;
  • investing or investors, a return on money, or ROI;
  • tokens, coins, NFTs or crypto of any kind.

The same words are refused in French (for example actionnaires, dividendes, prêt, rendement). Common words used in their ordinary sense are fine, such as "share this page" or "an API token".

If you want to raise equity, use a licensed equity crowdfunding provider. fundmysaas cannot take part.

Founder obligations

When you submit, you accept the obligations of a founder:

  • post regular updates, and announce any delay at once;
  • substantiate any claim about the development stage within 14 days when asked;
  • use backers' data for delivery only;
  • if a Build fund fails after charges, post an update on the work done and offer the remaining money back pro rata.
